Weatherspoon and Voltz Named 2011 Real Estate Super Lawyers
January 24, 2010―William H. Weatherspoon, Jr. and Elizabeth Weddington Voltz have been named 2011 Real Estate Super Lawyers. This is the second time Weatherspoon has recieved this honor. Voltz and Markworth Close Deals in Charlotte and Fayetteville
December 2010―Beth Voltz handled the modification of a $17,800,000.00 loan on a mixed-use (office and retail) project in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Rob Markworth and Beth Voltz closed on the purchase of five (5) acres in Fayetteville, N.C. that will be used as the second phase of a luxury apartment complex. Rob and Beth also represented the buyer in the acquisition and construction of the initial phase of the apartment complex in April 2009.

Five Points Redevelopment
November 2010―Will Weatherspoon assisted one of the firm’s developer clients in the acquisition and financing of land in the Five Points area of Raleigh that is well-positioned for redevelopment.

Voltz and Markworth Close Retail Construction Loan and Tenant Lease
August 2010―Beth Voltz and Rob Markworth handled a construction loan for a client who is building a 7,500 square foot custom building for a retail tenant. Beth Voltz also handled the lease negotiations with the tenant who will occupy the building.

Voltz Represents Shopping Center Landlord in Two New Leases
August 2010―Beth Voltz assisted a landlord with the execution of two new leases for a redeveloped shopping center in Raleigh. One of the leases (7,400 square feet) is for an outpatient dialysis facility. The other lease (14,000 square feet) is for a specialty pet supply store.

Voltz Negotiates 25,000 sq. ft. Office Condo Sale
August 2010―Beth Voltz handled the sale of a 24,976 square foot office condominium in Research Triangle Park for the seller of the condominium unit. The sale included the negotiation of an amendment to the condominium declaration to allow for the buyer’s intended use of the condominium unit after closing.

Voltz Negotiates Grocery Store Lease
July 2010―Beth Voltz represented a tenant in connection with the lease of 25,000 square feet in a shopping center in Durham, North Carolina for use as a grocery store.

June 18, 2010Will Weatherspoon and Rob Markworth assisted a client in the closing of a $19,385,000 construction loan for the development of a 196-unit apartment complex located in Cary, North Carolina. The loan is being insured through the HUD Section 221(d)(4) program.

Voltz presents a Commercial Bankruptcy Seminar
April 29, 2010―Beth Voltz and Michelle Rich Goode of Rich Commercial Realty/Keller Williams Commercial presented a commercial bankruptcy seminar entitled “Commercial Bankruptcy: What to do when Landlords and Tenants are feeling distressed.”  Beth Voltz served as moderator for the panel discussion.  The participants on the panel were Will Weatherspoon, Lee Hogewood of K&L Gates, Tom Fritsch of Highwoods Properties, and Neal Anderson of Anderson Bauman Tourtellot Vos. More than fifty (50) commercial brokers attended the seminar, which was held at the Keller Williams Commercial office.
